Düzce University completes advanced material tests at CERN
A research and development team from Düzce University has successfully completed its first advanced material tests at the European Organization for Nuclear Research (CERN). The project, supported by the Turkish Energy, Nuclear and Mining Research Agency (TENMAK), focuses on the development of quantum detection and detector technologies.
The research involves testing quantum nanostructure-doped nanocomposite scintillator candidates. Using CERN’s advanced research infrastructure, the team analyzed 48 new quantum nanocomposite thin film and plate samples. The testing process included X-ray crystal phase structure examinations, X-ray radioluminescence measurements, and gamma-ray total radiation dose irradiation tests to evaluate material stability and performance.
In addition to material testing, the team conducted detector simulations and analyses aimed at developing calorimeters for quantum detection. The work was carried out within the framework of the CERN DRD5 Collaboration. The results obtained will serve as a foundation for material evaluation and future detector design decisions.
