E-commerce drives youth entrepreneurship in Vietnam
E-commerce is creating new entrepreneurial opportunities for young people in Vietnam by lowering barriers to capital, physical premises, and market access. Utilizing tools such as smartphones, online shops, and livestreaming, young entrepreneurs can reach vast consumer bases with low initial costs.
Experts emphasize that for these opportunities to become sustainable, youth must transition from small-scale selling to professional business models. Essential skills now include multi-platform selling, social commerce, affiliate marketing, data analysis, and logistics. Additionally, the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) is highlighted as a tool to assist in market research, content creation, and customer service.
However, challenges remain, particularly regarding gaps in knowledge in business management, law, taxation, intellectual property, and data protection. The 2025 E-commerce Law and Decree 248/2026/ND-CP have established new legal frameworks to increase responsibilities for both sellers and platforms, focusing on business verification, goods control, and consumer protection.
