E-commerce logistics and visual content management trends

The e-commerce sector faces growing operational challenges regarding product imagery and reverse logistics. For expanding brands, product visuals act as critical infrastructure that can bottleneck marketplace approvals and influence conversion rates, particularly in high-return markets like Germany. Utilizing 3D rendering services is noted as a method to scale consistent visuals across various platforms and formats without the costs of manual photography for every SKU.

Simultaneously, reverse logistics—the movement of goods from consumers back up the supply chain for returns, repairs, or recycling—is becoming a significant economic factor. In the United States, retailers were expected to see $849.9 billion in merchandise returns in 2025, representing approximately 15.8% of annual sales and 19.3% of online sales. To manage this complexity, nearly half of retailers plan to utilize third-party logistics (3PL) partners to handle returns and mitigate fraud.
