E-Distribuzione begins helicopter inspections of Tuscany electrical grid

E-Distribuzione, a company within the Enel Group, has launched the second phase of its 2026 aerial inspection program to monitor medium-voltage electrical lines across Tuscany. Using specialized helicopters, the company is conducting low-altitude flights to inspect thousands of kilometers of overhead cables, electrical cabins, and transformation sites.

The inspections cover extensive areas including the provinces of Florence, Arezzo, and Siena, as well as regions such as Valdelsa, Chianti, Mugello, and Val d'Orcia. Utilizing high-resolution video technology, the flights allow for the visual detection of anomalies in infrastructure that is difficult to monitor from the ground. A primary focus of these preventive maintenance checks is identifying high-growth vegetation in close proximity to power lines to ensure efficient service and grid safety.
