E-Distribuzione to upgrade Venice electrical grid capacity
E-Distribuzione will conduct a new phase of its electrical grid voltage upgrade in Venice from October 13 to 16. The project targets parts of the San Marco, San Polo, Santa Croce, Dorsoduro, and Giudecca districts.
The initiative involves transitioning the network from 10 kV to 20 kV, a move intended to double the power capacity of the existing infrastructure while improving service quality. The broader development plan for Venice's electrical network involves a total investment of 76 million euros and includes the digitalization of systems for remote monitoring and management.
Scheduled power outages will occur during two daily windows: 7:30–14:30 and 13:30–20:30. While the transition is transparent for low-voltage customers and families, the project aims to support increasing energy demands, electric mobility, and the integration of renewable sources. Over 150 technicians and operators are expected to be involved in this stage of the work.
