E-Distribuzione upgrades electrical infrastructure in Italy
E-Distribuzione, a subsidiary of the Enel Group, is implementing infrastructure modernization projects in several Italian locations to improve electrical grid reliability and digitalization.
In Poggibonsi, technicians are upgrading the Monte Sabotino substation. The project involves replacing electromechanical equipment with fully automated components to enhance service continuity. The work includes the ability to perform remote maneuvers to isolate network sections and restore service via temporary bypasses. To minimize local disruption, a generator will be used to maintain power during the installation and removal of the equipment.
In Arzachena, the company plans to install 31 kilometers of new underground electrical lines. This strategic investment aims to benefit over 10,000 citizens, as well as local commercial and tourism sectors. The underground infrastructure is specifically designed to increase resilience against extreme weather events, such as intense summer heatwaves, ensuring a more stable supply for both residents and seasonal visitors.
