E. Jean Carroll details legal battle against Donald Trump in new book

E. Jean Carroll, the journalist who successfully sued Donald Trump for sexual assault, has released a new book titled ‘Not my type’ (published in France as ‘La femme qui a fait plier Trump’). In her account, she describes a seven-year legal battle that she characterizes as constantly difficult, noting that there was “not one easy moment in seven years.”

Carroll’s legal victory stems from her 2019 accusation that Trump assaulted her in a New York department store dressing room in 1996. Despite Trump’s public characterization of her as “crazy” and the case as a “hoax,” the courts ruled in her favor. In a civil proceeding, Trump was ordered to pay her $5.6 million. A separate appellate court ruling further ordered him to pay $83 million, a judgment that remains subject to potential Supreme Court appeal.

Carroll, 82, stated that her ability to pursue the case was aided by the fact that she had no children, was older, and felt she had “nothing to lose.” She intends to use the funds received to support causes such as women’s rights, minority rights, and climate change.
