E-mart to provide 600 million won for Gyeonggi food welfare
E-mart has signed an agreement with Gyeonggi Province and the Gyeonggi Social Welfare Council to launch the ‘Fresh Geunyang-dream’ project. The initiative aims to support healthy eating for vulnerable populations and promote coexistence with local eco-friendly farms.
Under the agreement, E-mart will provide 200 million won annually for the next three years, totaling 600 million won. These funds will be used to purchase eco-friendly agricultural products, which will then be distributed through 21 ‘Geunyang-dream’ sites across 17 cities and counties in Gyeonggi Province. This project expands upon the previous ‘Fresh Table’ initiative started in 2023.
The ‘Geunyang-dream’ welfare program allows residents facing livelihood difficulties to receive food and daily necessities without complex income verification or application procedures. By adding fresh produce to the existing support of processed foods, the project seeks to address nutritional imbalances among recipients.
