E. Solvay Velodrome undergoes major renovation in San Carlo

The E. Solvay Velodrome in San Carlo, located near San Vincenzo in the province of Livorno, has undergone extensive renovations following three years of work. The project included resurfacing the cycling track and constructing a new ring for track and field athletics.

San Vincenzo Mayor Paolo Riccucci credited the project's success to an agreement with Solvay, the landowner, which allowed the municipality to access 370,000 euros from the national ‘Sport e periferie’ grant. The upgrades aim to transform the facility into a regional and national reference point for sporting events.

The renovated site, which honors Italian athletics legends Ondina Valla and Claudia Testoni, is scheduled for an official inauguration ceremony on Wednesday, September 2. The facility is expected to host upcoming competitions, including the Trofeo delle Regioni and the 2026 Italian Derny Open Championship.
