e& UAE and EE top Ookla mobile speed rankings in 2026

e& UAE reclaimed the title of the world’s fastest mobile network for the first half of 2026, according to Ookla’s Speedtest rankings. The operator posted a Speed Score of 88.41, with median download speeds of 826.5 Mbps and uploads of 45.95 Mbps, and also secured the fastest 5G network award for the fifth consecutive period with a Speed Score of 82.75 and median 5G downloads of 953.23 Mbps. In fixed broadband, e& UAE again led the GCC and the Middle East, recording a Speed Score of 75.75.

In the United Kingdom, EE maintained its dominance in mobile performance, winning every RootScore award in the first half of 2026, including its 26th consecutive overall award and the Best 5G Experience accolade. The BT‑owned network topped both nation‑wide and metropolitan tests across all 16 major UK cities, while competitors Virgin Media O2, Three and Vodafone showed incremental improvements but remained behind EE.
