E18 roadwork and train strikes disrupt Oslo travel

Travelers in the Oslo region face significant disruptions this weekend due to a combination of roadwork, train strikes, and high passenger volumes at Oslo Airport.

Statens vegvesen has announced roadwork on the E18 at Ramstadsletta in Bærum, scheduled from Friday, September 25, at 21:00 until Saturday, September 26, at 15:00. The work involves asphalt and road marking, resulting in lane closures between Blommenholm and Strand. Only one lane will be open toward Oslo, while two lanes will remain open away from the city. Authorities recommend using public transport or alternative routes to avoid expected queues in Bærum, Asker, and Sandvika.

Rail travel is also impacted by an ongoing train driver strike, with numerous cancellations reported on lines such as RE10 and L1. Additionally, Oslo Airport expects a surge in travelers during the autumn holiday period, with nearly 2 million passengers anticipated between September 25 and October 11. Sunday, October 4, is projected to be one of the busiest days, with nearly 100,000 travelers expected through the airport.
