E39 highway upgrade between Osli and Hove officially opens

The Norwegian Public Roads Administration (Statens vegvesen) has officially opened the upgraded section of the E39 highway between Osli and Hove. The project involved upgrading nearly three kilometers of the road to a four-lane highway, including the construction of new bridges and improved facilities for pedestrians and cyclists.

This development serves as the first construction phase in the larger expansion of the E39 between Ålgård and Hove. The stretch is a vital transport artery for Nord-Jæren, handling approximately 24,000 vehicles daily. The upgrade aims to improve traffic flow, increase safety, and provide a more predictable commute for local residents, businesses, and freight transport.

Construction was completed under challenging conditions, requiring the relocation of technical infrastructure and managing heavy traffic and proximity to residential areas and schools. The project also included environmental improvements, such as extensive noise shielding.
