EA Sports releases NHL 27 with enhanced team identities

EA Sports has released NHL 27, an ice hockey simulation developed by EA Vancouver and published by Electronic Arts. The game officially launched on September 11, 2026, for platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC, with early access provided to Deluxe Edition pre-orders and EA Play members starting September 4.

Key updates in this installment focus on team identity and tactical realism. The developers have overhauled all 32 NHL arenas to include unique characteristics, such as specific goal celebration songs, individual entrance sequences, and distinct crowd behaviors. The gameplay features improved team AI, revised tactical behavior, and a new “Connected Franchise” mode designed for groups of friends.

The presentation has also been upgraded with a new broadcast package featuring commentators John Buccigross and Darren Pang. This update aims to mimic a real NHL broadcast through improved graphics, dynamic camera movements, and more contextual information during matches.
