Eagle Creek Park offers vast urban nature in Indianapolis
Eagle Creek Park, located northwest of Indianapolis, serves as a major urban nature destination spanning 3,900 acres. The park features a 1,400-acre lake that frequently hosts national rowing championships.
Visitors have access to approximately 30 miles of hiking trails through mature forests containing beech, ash, and black cherry trees. The site includes an ornithology center, a Earth Discovery Center, five playgrounds, a golf club, and a dedicated dog park. The Eagle Creek reservoir, completed in 1969 as a flood control measure, offers activities such as swimming, canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, and fishing.
