Eagle High Plantations responds to Felda investment dispute
Eagle High Plantations (BWPT) has issued a formal response to the Indonesia Stock Exchange regarding an investment dispute involving the Malaysian government agency, Federal Land Development Authority (Felda).
Corporate Secretary Rizka Dewi Sulistyorini clarified that while FIC Properties (FICP) is listed as a shareholder, FICP is a separate legal entity from Felda. The company stated it has no direct corporate or contractual relationship with Felda and cannot comment on Felda's internal affairs. BWPT emphasized that its operations remain normal and are unaffected by the reported issues.
The dispute follows statements from Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, who indicated that Felda could face potential losses of approximately RM2.5 billion (Rp10.9 trillion) related to the investment. FICP originally acquired a 37 percent stake in BWPT in December 2016 for US$ 505.4 million.
Separately, BWPT is expanding its midstream operations by constructing a kernel crushing plant in Kalimantan to increase productivity and business value.
