Eagle Point camper fire kills mother and three children
A mother and her three children, all under the age of 10, were killed in a fire involving a fifth-wheel camper in rural Eagle Point, Oregon. The incident occurred on Sunday, Aug. 9, in the 600 block of Leafwood Drive.
First responders arrived to find the camper fully engulfed in flames. While four family members were trapped inside, one surviving family member managed to escape with minor injuries. Firefighters from Jackson County Fire District 3 and the Oregon Department of Forestry worked to prevent the blaze from spreading into nearby forest lands.
Preliminary investigations by the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office suggest the fire was a “tragic, noncriminal accident,” though the exact cause remains under investigation pending autopsies and forensic identification.
