EarthOptics technology helps Brazilian soybean producers combat nematodes

Brazilian soybean producers are exploring new technologies to combat nematode infestations, which can cause crop losses of up to 40% by destroying root systems and preventing nutrient absorption.

During a technical mission to the United States organized by Sistema FAEP, a group of 40 rural producers visited the laboratories of EarthOptics in San Francisco, California. EarthOptics offers technology capable of detecting nematodes, fungi, and bacteria in the soil. According to Pedro Barbieri Castanho, the company's operations and sales director for Brazil, this technology allows for early identification and rapid action to protect crops, such as managing root-knot nematodes that cause swelling in roots.
