Earthquake of magnitude 4.0 hits San Gabriel Chilac, Puebla

A magnitude 4.0 earthquake occurred near San Gabriel Chilac, Puebla, in the early hours of Monday, August 24, 2026. According to the National Seismological Service (SSN), the tremor was recorded at 04:29:48 local time, with an epicenter located 18 kilometers south of San Gabriel Chilac at a depth of approximately 65 kilometers.

No injuries or material damages have been reported following the event. Civil Protection authorities are maintaining communication with municipal leaders and conducting preventive monitoring to ensure the stability of housing, infrastructure, and strategic services in the region.
