A magnitude 4.2 earthquake occurred on October 15, 2026, with its epicenter located approximately 10 kilometers south of Ponferrada, Spain. The seismic event was recorded at a depth of 16 kilometers.

The tremor was felt across various regions of the Iberian Peninsula, including Bragança and other areas in northern Portugal. The Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) is monitoring the event and has advised the population to follow civil protection guidelines and maintain vigilance in the region.
