Earthquake recovery efforts continue in Venezuela and Spain
Following recent seismic activity, recovery efforts are underway in both Venezuela and Spain. In the Juan José Mora municipality of Carabobo, Venezuela, housing construction projects have reached 85% completion. This initiative, part of the ‘Venezuela Renace’ program, aims to provide secure 72-square-meter homes for families displaced by a double earthquake.
In Granada, Spain, one and a half months after a magnitude 5 earthquake on August 15, local authorities report that 80 families remain unable to return to their homes. The city has experienced nearly 1,000 aftershocks, resulting in estimated material losses of approximately 100 million euros affecting over 60,000 properties and vehicles. Mayor Marifrán Carazo has emphasized the need for the area to be declared a seriously affected zone.
