Seismic activity reported in Italy, Greece, and near Mount Everest
Multiple seismic events have been reported across different regions. In Italy, a magnitude 3.4 earthquake occurred near Amaro and Gemona del Friuli in the Friuli Venezia Giulia region. The tremor, occurring at a depth of 14 km, caused alarm among residents due to a loud boom, but no damage to people or property has been reported by the Civil Protection or local fire services.
In the Campi Flegrei area, a magnitude 1.8 earthquake was felt in Pozzuoli. This event occurs amidst ongoing bradyseism, which has left 1,634 families displaced. Authorities have issued 502 orders and measures to manage the emergency, with thousands of people currently seeking assistance or temporary housing.
Additionally, seismic data from the OGS station located near Mount Everest has helped scientists reconstruct a catastrophic glacial collapse that occurred near the Nepal-Tibet border on August 26, which resulted in significant casualties from mud and debris flows. A magnitude 4.7 earthquake was also recorded in Southern Greece.
