Earthquake strikes Hindu Kush region in Afghanistan

A strong earthquake struck the Hindu Kush region of northeastern Afghanistan, an area known for high seismic activity due to the collision of the Indian and Eurasian tectonic plates.

Reports from the United States Geological Survey and the Euro-Mediterranean Seismological Centre indicated magnitudes ranging between 5.2 and 5.8. The seismic event occurred at a significant depth of approximately 104 to 110 kilometers.

Residents in the capital, Kabul, and the Nangarhar province reported feeling strong tremors. Despite the intensity of the shaking, there have been no immediate reports of casualties or significant structural damage to buildings in the affected areas. Authorities continue to monitor the situation to ensure public safety.
