Portugal experiences multiple seismic events in Azores and Alentejo

Portugal has recorded several seismic activities across different regions. In the Azores, the Terceira island experienced a 2.7 magnitude earthquake, part of an ongoing seismovulcanic crisis that has persisted since June 2022. Additionally, a 3.6 magnitude earthquake occurred near Ginetes on São Miguel island, with an epicenter approximately 38 kilometers west of Ponta Delgada. This follows a larger 5.2 magnitude tremor recorded in the same area on October 20.

In the Alentejo region, the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) detected three separate earthquakes on Tuesday, October 27. These tremors, located in the districts of Évora and Beja near Ferreira do Alentejo, Mora, and Vendas Novas, had magnitudes ranging from 0.3 to 1.3. No significant damage or widespread public perception of these smaller tremors has been reported.
