Earthquakes strike Indonesia and Colombia, causing significant casualties

Two major earthquakes have caused significant devastation in Indonesia and Colombia.

In Indonesia, a magnitude 7.7 earthquake struck near the island of Flores. At least 38 people have died and dozens are injured, though authorities expect the death toll to rise as people remain trapped under rubble. The shallow quake triggered a tsunami warning, though waves remained under one meter before the warning was lifted. Thousands have fled to temporary shelters, and power outages are hindering search and rescue efforts.

In Colombia, a magnitude 7.4 earthquake hit western regions, marking the strongest tremor in the country since 1979. President Abelardo de la Espriella has declared a national state of emergency. More than 250 deaths have been confirmed, hundreds are injured, and over 3,000 people remain missing. International royal families, including those of Spain and Monaco, have expressed solidarity with the Colombian people.
