EaseUS report shows SSD dominance in Windows storage

EaseUS Software has released its Windows Storage Trends and Insights 2026 H1 report, based on an analysis of 3.8 million global user samples. The study indicates a shift in Windows storage priorities from increasing raw disk capacity toward smarter space management and performance optimization.

Key findings show that Solid State Drives (SSDs) have become the dominant storage medium, accounting for 63.03% of all samples and 79.73% of system drives. While SSDs are preferred for operating systems and applications due to reliability and speed, Hard Disk Drives (HDDs) remain relevant for high-capacity data storage.

Additionally, the report highlights an increase in multi-drive configurations. Over 44.85% of sampled devices utilize two or more internal disk drives, with approximately 28.94% using a two-disk setup. This trend suggests users are increasingly separating system files from data storage to improve efficiency.
