East Bengal wins 17th Durand Cup title with 4-1 victory over Mohun Bagan

East Bengal FC won the 135th Durand Cup by defeating arch-rivals Mohun Bagan Super Giant 4-1 in the final held at the Vivekananda Yuba Bharati Krirangan in Kolkata. The victory marks East Bengal’s 17th Durand Cup title, equaling the record held by Mohun Bagan, and ends a 22-year drought for the club.

Edmund Lalrindika was the standout performer, scoring a hat-trick with goals in the 11th, 22nd, and 44th minutes. Bipin Singh opened the scoring in the 10th minute following a pass from captain Mohamad Basim Rashid. Mohun Bagan’s lone goal was scored by Manvir Singh in the 33rd minute.

Indian Defence Minister Rajnath Singh attended the match and congratulated the team on social media, praising their determination and teamwork. The match featured several yellow cards for both sides during a highly competitive Kolkata Derby.
