East Cowes low-cost housing plans face local objections

In East Cowes, plans to construct four low-cost homes on land currently used as a garden have met opposition from local councillors and the Isle of Wight Society. The proposal by Penny Downer involves building two pairs of semi-detached chalet bungalows behind Old Road.

Objectors have raised concerns regarding overdevelopment, highway safety, and the potential impact on the character of neighboring properties, some of which are part of Queen Victoria’s former estate. Additional concerns include the design of the homes, potential overlooking, and the presence of Japanese Knotweed. A planning decision is expected on October 13.
