East Devon tutor prepares for 47th year of Spanish classes

An 81-year-old language tutor in East Devon is preparing to begin her 47th year of teaching Spanish classes this September. Josefina started her teaching career in 1981 after moving to Beer and was encouraged to share her skills through the St Clare’s Adult Education Centre in Seaton.

Throughout her career, Josefina has adapted to technological shifts, moving from traditional chalkboards to using computers, interactive internet programs, and Zoom for online instruction. Her teaching experience includes work at Colyton Grammar School, Sidmouth College, and Ottery St Mary.

Her upcoming term begins on September 21 and will offer various levels, including beginner, intermediate, advanced, and conversation classes. Sessions are conducted in small groups of six to ten students.
