East Flanders launches P!T label for sustainable schools
The Province of East Flanders has launched ‘P!T’, a new quality label for sustainable schools and organizations. The initiative was officially inaugurated at De Meiroos primary school in Wetteren, which became the first recipient of the label following the opening of its new climate-healthy playground.
The P!T label serves as a visible mark of commitment to education regarding sustainable learning environments. This initiative follows the cessation of Flanders' previous environmental education (MOS) operations, with the province stepping in to guarantee support for nearly 800 schools.
Beyond schools, the label is also available to local governments and organizations to strengthen the province's role in nature and environmental education. Over the past eight years, the province has assisted in unpaving over 56,000 m² of playgrounds across more than 250 schools, creating 40 hectares of greenery to boost local biodiversity.
