East Hesse Police Headquarters celebrates 25th anniversary

The East Hesse Police Headquarters (Polizeipräsidium Osthessen) celebrated its 25th anniversary with an open house event in Fulda. Established on January 1, 2001, as part of a major police reform in Hessen, the headquarters was founded in the former Down Barracks following the withdrawal of the US Army.

Police President Michael Tegethoff noted that the headquarters is responsible for the security of approximately 450,000 people across the districts of Fulda, Hersfeld-Rotenburg, and Vogelsbergkreis. Covering roughly 4,000 square kilometers, the jurisdiction represents about 20 percent of the state of Hessen's total area.

The anniversary event was attended by high-ranking representatives from politics, society, and religious institutions, including Hessen's Interior Minister Roman Poseck. Discussions during the celebration highlighted the importance of respect for emergency services and the agency's role in maintaining low crime rates and high clearance rates in the region.
