East Java economy grows 5.84 percent in first half of 2026

During the 81st anniversary celebrations of East Java on October 12, 2026, Governor Khofifah Indar Parawansa reported that the province's economy grew by 5.84 percent in the first semester of 2026. This growth rate exceeds the national average and is the highest among provinces on Java Island.

This economic performance is attributed to aggressive industrial development and accelerated downstreaming. Over the past year, the province has developed 13 industrial zones, two special economic zones, and a halal industrial zone. East Java currently supplies nearly 80 percent of the logistics needs for 17 provinces in Indonesia.

Local celebrations, including ceremonies in Pamekasan, highlighted the province's long history and the theme of “Jatim Unggul Maju Berkelanjutan” (Superior, Advanced, and Sustainable East Java), focusing on competitiveness, innovation, and social-economic balance.
