East Java Education Office provides vocational training for special needs students

The East Java Education Office (Dindik Jatim) is conducting vocational training for 15 students with special needs (ABK) to foster economic independence and entrepreneurship. Held from August 19 to 24, 2026, through the Technical Skills and Vocational Development Unit (PTKK), the program focuses on three practical fields: fashion design, culinary arts, and cosmetology.

Head of Dindik Jatim, Aries Agung Paewai, emphasized that the training aims to increase students' competence and self-confidence, helping them avoid unemployment by potentially starting small businesses. To ensure the sustainability of the knowledge, accompanying teachers from various educational institutions are also required to participate. This allows instructors to continue teaching the acquired skills to other students within their respective schools.

Industry practitioners are providing technical guidance during the sessions. Instructors noted that several students already demonstrated surprising proficiency in areas such as ingredient measurement in culinary arts and basic makeup techniques in cosmetology.
