East Kalimantan officials map remote school needs for aid

The East Kalimantan Education and Culture Office is collaborating with Commission X of the Indonesian House of Representatives (DPR RI) to map the specific needs of schools in remote areas. This initiative aims to ensure that government assistance, such as building rehabilitation and learning facilities, is accurately targeted to the regions that need it most.

Field teams are conducting regular inspections in remote locations, including Muara Ancalong, Senyiur, and Busang, to gather data on school conditions. Acting Head of the East Kalimantan Education and Culture Office, Armin, emphasized that data accuracy is crucial for prioritizing aid and identifying schools that have previously lacked adequate government support.

Beyond physical infrastructure, the collaboration focuses on economic support through the Program Indonesia Pintar (PIP) and various scholarship programs to address educational barriers caused by financial constraints in isolated communities. Edi Eloan Pasaribu, a member of Commission X, noted that tiered coordination from local to central government is essential to achieve equitable educational support.
