East Macedonia and Thrace to receive 15 new Special Guard positions

The East Macedonia and Thrace region will receive a reinforcement of 15 Special Guard positions through emergency police transfers. The new personnel will be distributed across six police directorates within the region.

The allocation of positions is as follows: - Orestiada: 3 positions - Alexandroupoli: 2 positions - Rodopi: 3 positions - Kavala: 3 positions - Drama: 3 positions - Xanthi: 1 position

The Association of Special Guards of East Macedonia and Thrace (SEFEAAMTh) stated that this development follows continuous efforts to strengthen regional services. The association noted that the issue was raised with the Minister of Citizen Protection, Michalis Chrysochoidis, during his visit to Evros on September 4, 2026. The association emphasized that increasing personnel aims to improve working conditions for officers and enhance operational effectiveness for public safety.
