East Midlands Railway Will Rogers resignation Neil Grabham interim Class 810 fleet issues Bedford train crash

Will Rogers, who has led East Midlands Railway (EMR) since January 2020, announced his departure after six years in charge. Transport UK Group said Rogers will leave his post, with interim Managing Director Neil Grabham, former Merseyrail chief, set to take over.

The change comes amid a difficult summer for EMR, with hundreds of Intercity services between London, Sheffield and Nottingham cancelled due to reliability problems with Hitachi Rail's new Class 810 fleet and the fallout from a fatal train crash near Bedford in June. Transport UK CEO Dominic Booth praised Rogers for navigating the company through the COVID‑19 pandemic and responding to the Bedford incident. Interim chief Neil Grabham expressed his commitment to restoring service performance.
