East Tamworth family targeted in home break-in and car theft

A family in East Tamworth was left shaken after thieves broke into their home and stole vehicles while the residents were asleep on a Saturday morning. CCTV footage captured four individuals attempting to enter the residence, including testing a window located near a child's bedroom.

The intruders gained access to the home by locating a key that had been hidden outside. Following the break-in, officers from the Oxley Police District attempted to stop two stolen vehicles on Scott Road. However, the police pursuit was terminated due to safety concerns after the drivers operated the vehicles unsafely, driving with lights off on the wrong side of the road.

The family, including former councillor Brooke Southwell, noted that the local community has provided significant support after images from the home's CCTV were shared on a community noticeboard.
