Eastcastle Infrastructure Secures $32.8 Million to Add 728 Telecom Towers in the DRC

Eastcastle Infrastructure DRC obtained a $32.8 million senior secured loan from the Emerging Africa & Asia Infrastructure Fund, part of a broader $179 million financing package, to construct 728 new passive telecom towers. The expansion will raise the company’s network from 1,072 to 1,800 sites, with about 70 % of the new towers located in rural and underserved areas of the Democratic Republic of Congo.

The funding also supports the installation of solar panels and lithium‑battery systems to modernise existing sites, improve energy efficiency and reduce reliance on diesel generators. Mobile internet penetration in the DRC stood at 33 % in Q4 2025, while overall 2G, 3G and 4G coverage reached 77 %, 68 % and 57 % respectively. "We welcome this collaboration with EAAIF to expand our tower network as we address the DRC's critical infrastructure bottleneck while advancing sustainable and energy‑efficient connectivity," said Peter Lewis, Co‑Founder and Director of Eastcastle Infrastructure Ltd.
