EastEnders announces major cast changes and crash storyline

BBC One’s long-running drama EastEnders has confirmed significant cast changes and major plot developments for the latter half of 2026. The series is set to feature a high-stakes vehicle crash in Walford, which will serve as a catalyst for upcoming dramatic storylines.

New characters are arriving in the Square, including the sisters of Nicola Mitchell. Additionally, several established characters are slated to return, most notably Janine Butcher, whose brief appearance is expected to drive autumn drama.

Conversely, the show will see several departures. Characters including Nigel, Julie Bates, and Bea Pollard are leaving the series, alongside the imminent permanent departure of Zoe Slater. Other characters, such as Linda Carter and members of the Slater-Moon family, are also expected to exit, while Kat and Alfie Moon are scheduled for temporary breaks.
