EastEnders explores grooming storyline involving Amy Mitchell and Craig Ingram

The BBC soap opera EastEnders is developing a storyline involving the grooming of teenager Amy Mitchell by suspended police officer Craig Ingram. Craig, who was recently suspended for gross misconduct following allegations of inappropriate relationships with a female officer, has been manipulating Amy by positioning himself as the only person she can trust.

In recent developments, Amy has become increasingly isolated, choosing Craig over her former partner, Denzel, and stonewalling her father, Jack Branning, when he attempts to intervene. Despite being under investigation, Craig has attempted to paint himself as a victim to maintain his influence over Amy. The plot includes scenes where Amy visits Craig at his residence, where he suggests they sleep together.

To ensure the storyline is portrayed accurately, the production has been collaborating with charities and experts, including Barnardo’s and End Violence Against Women, to highlight the warning signs of grooming.
