EastEnders pays tribute to director Michael Owen Morris
The BBC soap opera EastEnders has paid tribute to long-running director and producer Michael Owen Morris following his death. A dedicated graphic featuring a photograph of Morris was shown at the end of an episode to honor his extensive contributions to the series.
Morris was one of the show’s most prolific directors, working on episodes between 2003 and 2019. During his tenure, he collaborated with nine different executive producers and helmed significant storylines, including the 2004 spin-off special Pat & Mo. He also directed the 2023 special episode set in France that revealed the character Cindy Beale was still alive.
Beyond his work on Albert Square, Morris had a distinguished career in British television, contributing to notable BBC productions such as Doctor Who, The Onedin Line, Tenko, and the 1987 adaptation of Vanity Fair.
