Eastern European infrastructure projects named after Donald Trump
Several infrastructure projects in Eastern Europe are being named after Donald Trump. In Moldova, a planned high-voltage power line between Romania and Moldova will be called the ‘Trump Liberty Line’. The project is supported by a $130 million investment from the United States government to strengthen Moldova’s energy independence following instability caused by attacks on Ukraine’s power grid.
The Moldovan government has passed a draft law declaring the Streşeni–Guthinaş power line a project of national importance, with a completion deadline set for 2032. Romanian officials have expressed support for the interconnection project, noting the strategic importance of U.S. financing.
In Poland, plans are reportedly underway for a permanent U.S. military base to be named ‘Fort Trump’. This project could cost up to 17 billion PLN (approximately $4.4 billion), according to reports citing Polish media.
