Eastern Kentucky University athletics see football loss and volleyball win

Eastern Kentucky University (EKU) competed in two athletic matchups on Saturday. In football, the Colonels lost their United Athletic Conference opener to North Alabama with a score of 20-16. EKU held a 13-3 halftime lead following a touchdown run by Brady Hensley and two field goals by Devin Orr. However, North Alabama scored 14 unanswered points in the third quarter, including a touchdown pass from Destin Wade to Kamore Harris and a rushing touchdown by Wade, to secure the victory.

In volleyball, EKU defeated UT Arlington 3-0 (18-25, 22-25, 18-25). Despite UT Arlington sophomore Emilee Sikora reaching a milestone of 500 career points during the match, the Mavericks were unable to overcome EKU's performance, which included 14 total blocks and a higher hitting percentage.
