Eastern Macedonia and Thrace Council plans Drama-Amphipolis road upgrade

The Regional Council of Eastern Macedonia and Thrace has outlined a four-step plan to upgrade the existing road connecting Drama and Amphipolis. The discussion was prompted by a fatal traffic accident in early August involving a mother and son.

The proposed strategy includes seeking coordination with the Region of Central Macedonia to establish a joint fund for road improvements managed by the Drama and Serres regional units. Following the Thessaloniki International Fair, Regional Governor Topsidis intends to meet with the Minister of Infrastructure and Transport, and potentially the Prime Minister, to advance the project. The meeting is expected to include regional faction leaders, MPs, and local mayors.
