Eastern Mediterranean University joins COP31 ocean action workshop
Eastern Mediterranean University (DAÜ) participated in the ‘UNFCCC COP31 Presidency of Türkiye – Oceans & Seas Action Agenda Workshop’ held in Istanbul on August 13–14. The workshop is part of the preparatory process for the 31st Conference of the Parties (COP31) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change.
Representing DAÜ was Assistant Professor Dr. Burak Ali Çiçek, a member of the COP31 Advisory Board and head of the university’s Underwater Research and Imaging Center (SAGEM). The two-day event brought together scientists, international organizations, and various stakeholders to evaluate ocean and climate priorities and discuss actionable solutions.
COP31 is scheduled to take place in Antalya, Türkiye, from November 9–20, 2026. The summit will focus on global policies regarding climate change adaptation, financing, and sustainable development.
