Eastern Railway extends AC suburban train service to Bangaon
The Sealdah Division of Eastern Railway is extending its air-conditioned EMU local train service to Bangaon, a major trading point located in the North 24 Parganas district of West Bengal near the Bangladesh border. The extension, effective August 20, expands the current service that previously only ran between Sealdah and Barasat.
The AC service will operate six days a week, from Monday to Saturday. The train is scheduled to depart Sealdah at 10:33 a.m., making stops at several major stations including Barasat, Habra, and Thakurnagar, before reaching Bangaon Junction at 12:23 p.m. The return journey departs Bangaon at 12:35 p.m. and terminates at Sealdah at 2:25 p.m.
Divisional Railway Manager Rajeev Saxena stated that the extension aims to address the growing demand for modern and comfortable travel among daily suburban commuters in the region.
