Eastern Railway inspects food stalls at major stations

Eastern Railway (ER) officials conducted surprise inspections at licensed food stalls at Howrah, Sealdah, and Malda Town stations to ensure compliance with food quality and hygiene standards.

Directed by ER General Manager Gitika Pandey, the audits focused on food preparation standards, cleanliness, vendor compliance, and sanitation arrangements. Officials examined packaged goods for manufacturing and expiry dates, checked for pests, and inspected the storage of unpackaged savouries to prevent spoilage.

The inspections targeted major originating and terminating stations for long-distance and suburban trains to ensure passenger well-being and prevent illness during travel.
