Eastern Regional Football Association announces 2026/27 season plan
The Eastern Regional Football Association (ERFA) has announced its 2026/2027 regional football programme, beginning with the Eastern Cup Competition on October 10, 2026. The tournament will feature 64 clubs divided into four geographical zones and 16 groups. The top two teams from each group will advance to the Round of 32, with the two finalists earning a chance to qualify for the National MTN FA Cup.
Following the cup, the ERFA Division Two League is scheduled to commence on October 24, 2026, involving 56 clubs distributed across four zones. ERFA Chairman Linford Boadu Asamoah stated that the primary goal is to increase competitive opportunities for players to improve their skills and exposure.
In a move to support official development, the ERFA Executive Council has mandated that all Eastern Cup fixtures be officiated by referees from the GFA Catch Them Young (CTY) Refereeing Programme. This initiative aims to provide young referees with practical experience through mentoring and performance assessments. Additionally, the association plans to expand its digital presence through Eastern RFA TV and social media coverage.
