Eastern US Heat and Humidity to Persist Through Mid‑August

AccuWeather forecasts that the Eastern United States will remain hot and humid into mid‑August, with daily thunderstorms providing limited relief. Temperatures are expected to stay at or above 90°F in the Mid‑Atlantic and Southeast, with real‑feel values reaching the upper 90s to around 100°F due to high humidity.

Nighttime lows are projected to remain in the 70s, and in some urban areas may not drop below 80°F, reducing overnight recovery. The combination of heat, humidity, and frequent storms raises the risk of heat‑related health issues and flash‑flooding.

Senior Meteorologist Tyler Roys notes that while afternoon thunderstorms will limit peak temperatures, they can also produce damaging wind gusts and localized flooding.
