Eastgate shopping center in Berlin robbed by masked burglars

Two masked burglars carried out a major robbery at the Eastgate shopping center in Berlin-Marzahn over the weekend. The perpetrators entered through a bank branch before smashing the storefronts of 14 different shops.

During the heist, the thieves stole cash boxes from the registers of various businesses, including the bookstore chain Thalia and several fashion retailers. While the exact amount of stolen money has not yet been determined, the crime caused significant property damage and devastation within the center.

Berlin police responded with a large presence to secure the crime scene and conduct forensic investigations. The shopping center was temporarily closed during the early morning hours but reopened to customers once investigators finished their work.
