Easton Cowan poised for expanded role with Toronto Maple Leafs

Toronto Maple Leafs rookie forward Easton Cowan is expected to take on an expanded role following a season in which he recorded 29 points in 66 games. In addition to his NHL appearances, Cowan contributed 18 points in 22 games to help the Toronto Marlies secure the Calder Cup.

Former Maple Leafs forward Jay Rosehill suggested that Cowan has the potential to score upwards of 25 goals per season, noting that the young forward may fly under the radar due to the high volume of new additions made by general manager John Chayka.

Lineup projections for the upcoming season suggest Cowan could start on the third line, though his aggressive forechecking ability may eventually earn him a spot in the top six. Analysts suggest that while new signings like Jack Roslovic may see initial success on the top line, a potential scoring falloff could open opportunities for Cowan to move up the depth chart.
